text to self

no, i’m not talking about texting to yourself. i’m talking about an english teacher thing. when reading literature it is important for the reader to make connections between themselves and the story. deacon made a text to self connection today.

today we went to the woodlands to visit my mom, deacon’s mimi. and we rode the boat that goes all around the woodlands mall and pavilion. deacon hasn’t been on a boat since he was tiny when we were on vacation in seattle. here are the pictures of deacon’s boating adventure. let me just say, deacon was LOVING it. he loved being on that boat!!!

so, tonight we were reading in bed. he was reading green eggs and ham to me. when we got to the page where ‘he will not eat them on a boat’, deacon said, “dee dee (he calls himself dee-dee) on boat!” and that is a text to self connection. yay!

anonymous, i think you meant, ‘one is being treated to her first haircut/color in a year thanks to her sister’s generous spirit and one is eating moldy bread because we didn’t get to the store in time for new bread.’ when we speak without all the facts we can kind of sound like a jackass. unless you were just being funny. In that case, try a knock-knock joke next time.

Next time you’re visiting MiMi, we should hang out. We’re in The Woodlands and now we have our very own cute little boy for Deacon to play with. You know, if you’re interested. (Please read this as a friendly co-blogger, not as a creepy blog stalker.)
