Clayton’s CD
Music has been a huge part of my life. I love listening to music. I love making music. I love recording music. That’s why I made this CD.
It is actually an EP [extended play]. It has 6 tracks. You can listen to a sample below. It is an Easter themed EP [which is why it is called "Easter 2008"]. I might put out a new one every year [some of my inspiration for this came from Sufjan Steven's "Songs for Christmas" EPs]. That all depends on how well this one does!
Inside the CD I mention that Easter is perhaps the most important moment in the year for followers of Jesus. Every component of the Christian faith hangs on two things: the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus. I chose the songs and ordered them to reflect the flow of Holy Week. After the instrumental intro, the song “Silence Me” [written by my good friend Sam Henderson] recalls the “bright sadness” of the Lenten season. The song “Hosanna” [which I wrote] echoes the shouts and cheers of the crowd on Palm Sunday as Jesus entered Jerusalem. “Hymn to the Cross” [my best attempt at song writing to date] points to the death of Jesus on Good Friday. “Matthew 28:1-10″ is a simply sung version of this text that recalls the events of Easter morning. “Amazing Grace” is the song I chose to tie up the whole feel of the EP.
Many thanks to Stephen Bolech for his drum arranging and mastering work. Also thanks to Billy Hazard for his tasteful guitar solos.
Cost of the CD is $6 [plus $2 for shipping].
And I’d love to hear from you if you like it!
